Sam Concepcion talks about being chosen by Taylor Swift as her front act for her Asian concert tour

Sam Concepcion said that he is nervous, but excited about being the front act for the Philippine concert of Taylor Swift this coming February 19. Sam also revealed that he is also being commissioned by Taylor and her team to become the front act for her entire Asian concert tour. However, he said that he is not yet sure if this will be possible because he has previous commitments.

“I was invited to do the Asian tour [and] I really hope it works out kasi I just found out [about this] three days ago,” explained Sam at the intimate brunch arranged for Jollibee’s Yumbassadors last Friday, February 5 at The Fort. “Baka may matamaan [na event] that I have to do here in the Philippines. But I hope it works out and I could do a couple of shows in other countries.” He added that there are tentatively six stopovers for Taylor’s Asian concert tour.

Sam revealed that he only knew about the Philippine concert so he was surprised when he heard that he was being considered for all of Taylor’s concerts in the Asia tour. He was told by the producer of the Asian production that it was Taylor and her management who suggested this. “Sabi niya (Asian producer) on top of that they wanted me to do the entire tour na din. I was so schocked.”  Though his schedule is still being worked out, Sam said that he is flattered just by the thought and described it as a "great" opportunity.

He also did not deny that he is a huge fan of Taylor’s. “Any teenager anywhere would know at least five songs of Taylor Swift.”

Sam, who previously sang the theme song of Kung Fu Panda for Asia in 2008, said that he is still hoping to launch an international career in the future. “Things happen at the right time. So I just live one day at a time,” he said. “I never really imagined any of this.” While he is patiently waiting for that time, Sam said that he will continue honing his skills.
